CELEBRATIONS are on the cards as a Wee County school is awarded Reading Schools’ gold accreditation.
Staff and pupils at St Mungo’s RC Primary School are being rewarded for their dedication and hard work over the past year.
Extensive work has gone into making a thriving, positive reading culture at St Mungo’s, allowing pupils to share their enthusiasm for the written work with the wider community.
In order to achieve their gold standard award, St Mungo’s launched a podcast and an intergenerational project.
The school partners with neighbouring schools and hosts family engagement activities to promote and celebrate the joy of reading.
A spokesperson for Clackmannanshire Council said: “School staff say they enjoyed building a positive reading culture in their school and all of the children have worked hard to achieve the gold award.
“The Scottish Book Trust praised the school for their inspiring submission and for creating an ‘amazing reading environment’.
“This latest gold accreditation follows the school’s previous achievements in achieving core and silver awards from Reading Schools, which is run by the Scottish Book Trust and open to every school in Scotland.”
